Needle & Thread Inspiration - Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - December 2018

Welcome to the December 2018 edition of the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop!  You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie from the USA.  The theme this month is SAB/OCCASIONS SNEAK PEEK!

Last month, I was in Orlando for my first OnStage and had the privilege to get a sneak peek of the 2019 Occasions and SAB Catalogs!  WOW, is all I can say...  the experience was AMAZING!  We got to see live demonstrations of the new Suites.  And my mind was in overdrive absorbing everything from the designs, colors and techniques.

And the PRIZE PATROLS!!!  Oh my, talk about excitement!!!  Never in my wildest dreams could I
have imagined all the fun and excitement.  With all the delightful goodies that I came home with, I am definitely looking forward to the next opportunity that I can attend such a celebration.

Seeing all the products being used definitely added so many items to my Wish List... so it's been hard narrowing things down to my Need List... as if there is ever really a difference between the two lists, right?!  **wink**  So I started off with a Must Have List for my first two orders!  And, I must say, it's going to be tough deciding which is my favorite.  However, I did choose my very first "must have" bundle for today's card.

Being a crafter who loves to crosstitch, I fell in LOVE with the new Needles & Thread Photopolymer Stamp Set and Needlepoint Elements Framelits™Dies.  And when the Rectangle Stitched Framelits™ Dies were mentioned I was whoop, whooping like so many others in the 6,000+ crowd!

The distinktive qualities of Needles & Thread is amazing!  And the added bonus of the images being grouped together with matching dies for easy die cutting was even better!

The Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder was inked up on the raised side with a  Balmy Blue ink pad and the Whisper White layer was inserted before pressing down to create the linen image.  The two long stitches stamps were stamped in Night of Navy to recreate the border on the right hand side.  Olive Green Linen Thread (NEW in January!) was wrapped around the Whisper White layer and adhered to the back with Snail Adhesive.

The embroidered images were stamped and off stamped in Balmy Blue, Night of Navy and Old Olive inks and die cut with their matching dies.  The two larger floral images were colored with Balmy Blue and Night of Navy Stampin' Write Markers and stamped using the Huff Technique.  For a softer look, the stamped images were lightly touched with a damp Aqua Painter.

The sentiment from Home to Roost (you can earn it for FREE during SAB starting in January!) was stamped in Night of Navy onto the positive image from one of Rectangle Stitched dies.  The diecuts were adhered in layers on the Whisper White layer with liquid adhesive.

After adhering the Whisper White and Balmy Blue layers to the Old Olive layer, 3/16" Braided Linen Trim was wrapped around the Old Olive layer and gently knotted.  The Fancy Linen Bow was created by separating the 3-stranded Old Olive Linen Thread into single strands and attached securely with a bow.  The Old Olive layer was adhered to the Night of Navy card base with liquid glue.

Identical layers were repeated for the inside of the card.  The Whisper White layer was ran through the Big Shot with both stitched dies in the upper right corner.  TIP:  The dies were secured with retired washi tape to prevent them from moving.  The sentiment from Home to Roost was stamped in Night of Navy.  The stamped images were adhered with liquid glue along with the remaining inside card layers.

The colors for this card were inspired by an embroidered pillow on the set of my favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives.  This was such a gorgeous pillow and the minute I saw it, I knew I needed to use it for a card inspiration.
