Tina Zinck

I have the privilege of CAS(e)ing the amazing Tina Zinck from Nova Scotia, Canada!
Tina is one of my newest demonstrator friends!  During the planning stages of creating this fun blog hop, I was definitely blessed to have ran across Tina's blog and reached out to her blindly to join me on the blog hop.  It has been such a pleasure to get to know this amazing person. Just this week she  had an amazing blog post about her life with stamping (click here to read).

My inspiration from Tina Zinck for today's cards | Nature's INKspirations by Angie McKenzie My inspiration from Tina Zinck for today's cards | Nature's INKspirations by Angie McKenzie

Tina has an amazing technique for beginner and avid stampers.  I must say - I'm hooked!  The Sponge-Flip Background Technique has soooo many possibilities!  Thanks for the inspiration, Tina!

Tina demonstrated the technique with sponges blending them vertically and horizontally across a standard Whisper White card front layer.  I opted for using my sponge brayers - one for Granny Apple Green and one for Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay.

Sponge-Flip Background Technique | Nature's INKspirations by Angie McKenzie

Cut a full sheet of Whisper White cardstock into 4 equal pieces by cutting in half lengthwise and again widthwise.  Brayer Granny Apple Green down the center, then Coastal Cabana on one end and Bermuda Bay on the other.  Cut halfway across and then turn and flip!  The two original ends are now in the center and the center is now the ends!  How cool is that?!?

Well, I went for cooler and decided to try this technique diagonally!
I enjoyed it so, that I did two this way!

Tear & Tape Adhesive came in handy for keeping the pieces together for all four backgrounds.
One of the diagonals was cut horizontally and the other vertically.

This one is one that I cut in half and flipped a second time!

A simple card that was die cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles die, heat embossed with the  Ridiculously Awesome sentiment, layered on Bermuda Bay and adhered to a Coastal Cabana horizontal top folding card base.

A stepped up card with the background created vertically and with Tina in mind!  Die cut the background with the largest Stitched Rectangle die, emboss with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder and sprinkle with water to create a weathered look.  Brayer the center panel without reinking them.  Stamp the lighthouse and seagulls in Bermuda Bay.  Tie Braided Linen Trim around the panel, tying in a knot and curl the ends slightly to resemble the seagull wings.  The heat embossed Forever Greenery sentiment was fussy cut and adhered with dimensionals.  The Coastal Cabana layer was adhered to a vertical top folding Crumb Cake card base.

This stepped up version has the double flipped background and was created as a get well card for a friend who has had recent surgery.  The large splatters and the fussy cut Back on Your Feet turtle reminds me of a waterpark slide - someplace we won't be going to anytime soon unfortunately thanks to these days of social distancing!  Heat emboss the sentiment and die cut with a Stitched Shapes square die.  Die cut the background panel with the largest Stitched Background panel and emboss with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.  Adhere the background panel to a Thick Whisper White card layer for sturdiness.  Adhere the sturdy panel with liquid glue to slightly larger Whisper White layer.  Stamp the turtle with Stazon and color with Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Early Espresso watercolor pencils and blend with a damp Fine Tip Water Brush.  Fussy cut the turtle and adhere with dimensionals along with the embossed sentiment square.

Off-stamp the Tasteful Touches bloom in Granny Apple Green three times.  Color the centers with the bullet tip of the Dark Bermuda Bay and Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Markers.  The Die cut the Flourishing Dies arch leaf five times with Vellum.  Color the reverse sides of the die cut leaves with the Bermuda Bay Combo and Dark Granny Apple Green Blends Markers.  When dry, cut the arches in half and arrange with the fussy cut blooms with mini glue dots.  Embosse a slightly smaller Whisper White card front layer with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.  Adhere the intricate background with mini glue dots to the embossed layer.  Heat emboss the Forever Fern sentiment with the Tasteful Labels Dies banner and adhere with dimensionals.

The insides are just as important as the card fronts! Continue the themes as much as possible.  And don't forget to stamp the envelopes, too, for a personal touch.
