Words of Cheer Christmas Cards for the Global Creative INKspirations Blog Hop - November 2021

Words of Cheer Christmas Card

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!  I am enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with my family as this Global Creative INKspirations Blog Hop goes live for the last time.  I am so thankful to have been a part of this two and a half year collaboration envisioned by Tania Tobin.  You are either starting here or coming from the blog of my friend, Danielle.  This month we are sharing inspiration for Christmas so I hope you will be filled with as much inspiration as we are with gratitude of you being an important part of our blog hop.

Today's Project

Inspired by the colors in the amazing Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper, I am sharing another color palette with you for this fun to color stamp set, Words of Cheer.  I have always loved coloring and the Stampin' Blends make it so relaxing to color and blend away...

Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Crumb Cake blend together so nicely and remind me of Christmases past....  and, yes, definitely my favorite shades of the traditional reds and greens for Christmas.

Project Details

Starting with a 3-3/4" square piece of Basic White cardstock, the Words of Cheer image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink as close to center as possible.  The poisettia were colored with Dark and Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends.  The pine boughs were colored with Light Soft Succulent and Dark Evening Evergreen, the holly leaves with Dark and Light Evening Evergreen, and the remaining leaves with Light Soft Succulent.  The berries were left as white.  Light Crumb Cake was used to fill in between images extending in strokes to almost fill the square giving it an antiqued feel.

The colored layer was adhered to a slightly larger layer.  The sentiment was heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder on a 1/2" strip of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock.  The gold Simply Elegant Trim was wrapped around the top of sentiment twice and adhered with Tear & Tape Adhesive.  The wrapped panels were adhered to the Evening Evergreen card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Garden Gems were added as centers for the poinsettia.

The inside is just as important as the card front so the stamping, coloring and layers were replicated.  And to complete the card, the envelope front and flap were stamped and colored for a sneak peek of what's to come.

As usual, I could not just stop with one card... a standard size card was made to compliment the square card.

The only difference between the two cards is the size and the amount of Light Crumb Cake shading with the Stampin' Blends Marker.

With the standard size card, I opted for more of a shading effect vs the antiqued effect.  The antiqued look  would be just as lovely on this size card so stay tuned for another idea with this in a later blog post.

I hope that you have enjoyed this inspiration using the Words of Cheer Stamp Set along with some of the other products in my craft space to help you create a Christmas card to send to others.  Now, let's pop over for some more inspiration with my friend, Tania across the waters!  She has a lovely Christmas card to share with you using the Merriest Moments bundle.
