Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - August 2018

Welcome to the August 2018 edition of the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop!  You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie from the USA.  The theme this month is PRODUCTS FROM THE NEW HOLIDAY CATALOG!

Just a little over two weeks ago, I had the privilege to get a sneak peek of the 2018 Holiday Catalog!  It was an online sneak peek, so I was able to glimpse and zoom in on some products that really excited me!  After two days of narrowing down my want list, I made my initial preorder of some products that I am showcasing to you today... these were my first "must have" items so I hope that you enjoy them!

These were my "rejects" for the card you're about to see... aren't they gorgeous?!?  It took a little practice to get the dies lined up and through the Big Shot... I flip my dies upside while running them through and that's where the practice was needed.  Washi tape helps a lot with keeping the dies in place.  ;)

Meet Dashing Deer and Winter Woods!  I absolutely love these two new stamp sets and their  coordinating dies that are available in bundles.  The deer is reminiscent of my all-time favorite Stampin' Up! deer stamp set - Dasher!

A watercolor wash was done in Mint Macaron on Shimmery White cardstock.  The Dashing Deer  was stamped in Petal Pink onto Shimmery White cardstock then ran through the Big Shot with its coordinating Detailed Deer thinlits die.  The bare trees were diecut on Vellum with dies (yes, two!) from the In The Woods framelits dies.  When the watercolor wash was completely dry, the trees from Winter Woods were stamped in Crumb Cake.

The watercolor wash layer was adhered to Crumb Cake cardstock with liquid glue.  The base of the vellum diecuts were adhered with liquid glue while Dashing Deer was attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The sentiment from Dashing Deer was stamped and off-stamped in Mint Macaron onto Shimmery White.  Paper snips created the banner tail.  The left side was scored three times and folded accordion style before being adhered with liquid glue and elevated with a Stampin' Dimensional.  Linen Thread was threaded several times through before finishing off with a bow.

The Mint Macaron card base was inserted into the Subtle DTIEF which was inked up on one side with Mint Macaron.  The folder was closed and hand rubbed to create the inked impression of the folder.

The inside also showcases Dashing Deer.  The border was watercolored with an Aqua Painter using ink from the lids of the Petal Pink and Mint Macaron ink pads.  The sentiment was stamped in Mint Macaron.

The second card features a sentiment from Winter Woods.  The Shimmery White cardstock was embossed with the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (from the 2018-19 Annual Catalog) and lightly watercolored with Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron inks from the perspective ink pad lids.

After the watercoloring was completely dry, the sentiment - stamped on Vellum in Petal Pink and placed over a band of Soft Sea Foam cardstock - was adhered with liquid glue and wrapped around the Soft Sea Foam cardstock layer.   Then the layers were adhered to the Petal Pink card base with liquid glue.

The inside sentiment stamped in Petal Pink and the swirly holly stamped in Soft Sea Foam are from the Merry Christmas to All photopolymer stamp set.  This stamp set will probably be my most used stamp set for the season due to all the possible word groupings and the coordinating thinlits!

So are you wondering why I chose the color scheme that I did?!?  Well, I'm going to Orlando in November to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Stampin' Up! and for one of the events, I'll be crafting in the Petal Pink room!  What better way is there to celebrate this occasion than to stamp some cards using the color of the room I'll be crafting in, right?!?  This will be my first OnStage so I am just a bit excited especially since it is such a special anniversary for this awesome company that I love...  will you be joining me there?  If so, let me know in the comments below!  If not, maybe one year soon!

I hope these cards have inspired you to get creative with your ink selections and try some new or different techniques with your cards this holiday season.  You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie.  Now it's time to get more inspiration from the other stampers that are part of this Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop by clicking on the list below.  You sure don't want to miss any!
