Welcome to the Ink and Inspiration Blog Hop. You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie from the USA.  This AMAZING group of talented, international Stampin' Up!® Demonstrators has some incredible projects for those of you who would like to learn a tip or two with some different techniques when creating your projects... I hope you enjoy my project on this cold, snowy day here in the USA as we share things that are Technique Savvy

My hubby tested positive with the flu last week. And then I started to not feel well (why I'm later than normal with publishing this post!) so I was really excited to finally feel up to do what I love...  creating cards to make others smile.  And I'm tickled to be able to share my favorite technique of  watercoloring with you... there is nothing like adding some color to your cards with a little water and an aqua painter.  **swoon**

Creating watercolor backgrounds is so fun and makes for one-of-a-kind cards, so I thought I would try something new to me by adding shimmer paint to the reinker!  This was so much fun that I  created a second background, too (click here to see it)!  Just add a small amount of Frost White Shimmer Paint to an acrylic block and one drop of reinker.  Mix with water from an aqua painter to the consistency and color you wish - and then it's time to watercolor to your heart's desire!

For this card, the background is a sun...  totally inspired by the upcoming Sale-a-Bration 2nd Release Rise & Shine stamp set!  After Christmas, I saw a surprise sneak peek of this amazing stamp set (not knowing when it would be available) and knew that it was a must have for me as it coordinated with the Cup of Cheer Dies from the Holiday Catalog!

Frost White Shimmer Paint and Calypso Coral reinker were mixed together and watercolored onto Shimmery White cardstock.  The mug was die cut from a scrap piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  The flowers were generation stamped with Blushing Bride.  The mug rim and handle were watercolored to match the sun.  The tea bag tag was die cut twice to adhere the linen thread which was attached with Mini Glue Dots.  The sentiment was stamped in Blushing Bride onto Shimmery Whtie cardstock and fussy cut prior to adhering to the watercolor layer with liquid glue.  The watercolor sunshine layer was adhered to a Calypso Coral layer with liquid glue.  The card base is Blushing Bride.

And for the inside, the theme was followed through with more watercoloring!  The mug was stamped off in Blushing Bride at a jaunty angle.  The sun rays were stamped in Calypso Coral.  More watercoloring with the mixed shimmer paint was done for the center of the sun.  The sentiment was stamped in Blushing Bride and punched out with the Label Me Fancy Punch then trimmed a smidge along the top and bottom for a balanced fit.

I hope this project has inspired you and brightened your day.  You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie.  Please see the list below and hop through all of the people on the list to see all our projects.  You don't want to miss any!
