It's time for the March 2020 Challenge over at The Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge! For this month's challenge designed by Laura Awsom Geffert, you can select any three of the design elements in a row on the board going in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal direction. I have chosen the vertical row of Birthday | Punch | Food.
My mom's birthday was this past week so this card was designed especially for her! The color scheme is one of her favorites. Being a Southern Belle like me, this stamp set was a must because of the floral blooms atop the tiered cake! The glass cake stand just shines thanks to the Shimmery Crystal Effects. Shimmery White cardstock was a must as it was the closest choice to the natural blooms of the Gardenia along with Southern Magnolia so prevalent in my native Georgia. The leaves were artistically colored with a fine tip Aqua Painter and Old Olive ink (actually close in color to the Evergreen Magnolia Hybrid leaves). The Pretty Peacock wash was added after the cake plate was completely dry. In the meantime, the blooms and leaves were stamped a second time and fussy cut. The stamen (or carpel for magnolias) was dabbed with a gold calligraphy marker from my hand lettering pen stash. The edging around the larger Shimmery White layer was created with the Braided Border Punch by cutting the strip straight down the middle. The watercolored background was edged with a die from the Nature's Thoughts Dies (extended a bit to fit the stamped area). The fussy cut blooms were fluffed up around the edges before being adhered directly over the initial blooms with Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Gray Granite, fussy cut and adhered with liquid glue.
For the inside, the Magnolia Bloom was off stamped in Gray Granite and the splatters likewise in Pretty Peacock. The sentiment was stamped in Gray Granite. And, yes, the envelope was also stamped for the celebration!
