Angel Wings on a Snowy Sunday

Happy Sunday and Happy Send a Card to a Friend Day, y'all!!!  I'm so glad that you are visiting my blog today.   This cold, snowy Sunday here in NW Ohio, is the perfect time to share these special cards with you that I created with after Christmas.  I previously shared them on Instagram (click here to see) but thought I would share some tips on how they were created.

Today's Project

When I saw the now retired Dove of Hope Bundle in the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog, I knew that it would wind up in my craft space as I saw an angel wing the first time I saw the detailing on one of the Detailed Dove Dies.  Inspired by the amazing Melody Hyde with one of her videos creating her version of angel wings is how I finally got to my ah-ha moment with assembling them. 

Project Details

There are three different layers - the solid wing in Basic White, the solid wing in Vellum, and the detailed wing in Basic White.  Each layer was die cut twice.  While smoothing out the edges of the "upside down" wing, I started curving the wings... ever so slightly to obtain the long sweeping arch of the wings.  The layers of the wings were adhered with Foam Adhesive Strips.  To obtain the spacing of the wings, they were aligned over a vellum Stitched Triangles layer.  

Flipping the wings over carefully, the vellum triangle was removed, folded and adhered with mini glue dots.  This allowed for wiggle room of the wings when they moved during the attachment process. 

The ribbon was used to cover the assembly process of the wings.  The ribbon was secured with twine.  

I tied a bow and attached it with more mini glue dots for the final touch.  The wings were adhered to the stamped card front with mini glue dots in case the recipient wishes to remove it from the card front as a Christmas ornament.  A piece of looped twine was provided in the card as an option for the recipient.

• Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon
