Festive Foliage #AYSI261

Hello and welcome to my blog!  Today I decided to participate in the current color challenge over at As You See It!  I was rather intrigued with the elements of the challenge and thought they would make a beautiful Thanksgiving card with a Christmas background stamp!

As You See It Challenge #261

Today's Project

Every once in awhile I like to make a non-traditional holiday card for those in my life... and with the modern country home feel of these colors for this challenge, I couldn't resist making this Thanksgiving card that feels so clean and fresh.

Project Details

Tempted to silver emboss this amazing Festive Foliage background stamp, I opted to use Smoky Slate as my silver.  Coloring the different design elements with the Blackberry Bliss, Granny Apple Green and  Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Markers was the perfect activity for a rainy Sunday afternoon.  The colored image was trimmed and adhered to a Smoky Slate Cardstock layer.

The Gray Granite Baker's Twine was a great tone to add some softness under the Tasteful Labels die-cut panel stamped with the Pretty Pumpkins sentiment.  The sentiment layer was adhered with dimensionals.  The colored layers were raised with two additional smaller Smoky Slate layers before they were adhered to the Basic White Thick card base,

The inside layers were replicated to compliment the card front.  The Shades of Summer sentiment was  chosen to compliment the front design.  Plenty of room is available for corresponding to family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday.  The envelope front and flap were also stamped and colored to give the recipient a sneak peek of what's inside.

  1. What a wonderful way to use both the colours and Festive Foliage, Angie. Using Smoky Slate as your 'silver' worked a treat. I like the way you've taken a Christmas stamp and given it life in a non-Christmas context too. The mat layer of Smoky Slate adds a lovely zing to the design. Thanks so much for joining in with us at As You See It Challenge.

  2. This stamp works perfectly as a Thanksgiving card with our colours. I love the more restful, muted look of the Smoky Slate as opposed to the shiny metallic look of silver, Angie! So glad you played our colour challenge with us at As You See It Challenges.

  3. This is one of my favourite stamps currently Angie and I love that you used it in a non-traditional way. The Smoky Slate instead of silver adds to the overall effect - beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It this week!

  4. This is so pretty in the challenge colors...it's beautiful in the Smoky Slate, but I think embossing it in silver would be gorgeous too! Your coloring is perfect! So happy you played with As You See It this week!
