September 2022 Color Inspiration

Today's Project

I was drawn to the patterns and textures in today's photo inspiration... and as a mom, I couldn't resist viewing this photo from a mom's perspective from inside her (now quiet) home after a hectic morning of getting the kid(s) out of the door for school.  Dreamy, right?!  Yes, I thought so, too, but hey... we mom's have to dream sometimes, right?  More than likely this would be an after-school picture with the kids going to an after school activity.  Either way, the kids are having fun and mom is able to relax!

Project Details

The background was created with the rectangle image from the Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set.  Aligning the Basic White cardstock on Grid Paper was a must to keep the "rugby stripes" straight.  The image was stamped with Pacific Point ink and stamped down one side completely and then repeated along the opposite side.  TIP:  With the imperial (inches) grid paper, the image as approximately three squares wide so the spacing between the stamped images was the same.

A Blender Pen was used to blend out the texture of stamped image to create a smoother finish.  A damp Water Painter was used to brighten the hue of blended image.

The center panel was wide enough to slightly overlap the "unstamped" center of the Basic White card layer.  The panel was embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder to represent the school days vibes.  The stamped layer was adhered to a slightly larger Pacific Point cardstock layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The In the Moment image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a Basic White card layer.  The ink pad lids were used as paint palettes for applying the ink with a Blender Pen to create a waterless watercolor appearance.  Crumb Cake (hair), Pacific Point (pants), Sweet Sorbet (top, barrette), Bermuda Bay (mug, window seat cushion), and Daffodil Delight (pillows) inks were used with short and long strokes of the Blender Pen being sure to clean between color applications.  Garden Green (trees) ink was used by tapping the Blender Pen up and down quickly several times to create the look of leaves.   To complete the look, Ivory (skin) and Light Pool Party (window glass) Stampin' Blends Markers were added to the color list.

Finishing the card, the colored image with die-cut with the two largest squares from the Stylish Shapes Dies.  The die-cuts were adhered to a 3"square prior to adhering to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped with Pacific Point ink, fussy cut and adhered with Mini Glue Dots.

The inside was layered and stamped to compliment the card front.  This card fits perfectly in the Basic White Medium Envelopes for giving to a mom who needs a gentle reminder or a hug of appreciation.
