International Blog Highlights - September 2018

This month's theme for the International Blog Highlights by Kylie Bertucci is CONGRATULATIONS.  What an awesome theme!  There is always something to congratulate our family and friends about.  If you like my card, you can vote for me on Kylie’s blog HERE.

Last week I saw my former high school band director and learned from his proud wife that he will be inducted into my high school's Hall of Fame!!!  Needless to say I was thrilled especially since he was one of my favorite teachers in high school.  I LOVED being in the band especially in the marching band.  After two years of marching, I had a surgery that forever changed my flute playing days, but my favorite band director was not giving up on me as being part of the marching band!  He came to me and asked me to be a "band-aide".  It you can't play it, you can assist it!

So this card is for you, Mr. McLure!

The cardbase is Pacific Point.  Using the Stamparatus, the sentiment from Friendly Expressions is hinge stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.  The left and right edges wore torn from the top down.

The top part of the card, is layered with Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White cardstocks.  The Sheet Music background stamp was inked up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped with the Stamparatus.  The highlight sentiment from Calls for a Celebration was stamped with Pacific Point.  The custom phrases related to Mr. McLure's special honor used the print letters from Make a Difference inked again in Pacific Point.  The lower sentiment was colored with a Pacific Point Stampin' Write Marker since the first two of four lines of the Petal Palette sentiment were used.

The inside top panel was adhered with a tad bit snail adhesive just in case Mr. McLure wishes to add it to a scrapbook or other similar memory keeper.  This kind, gentle, giant of a man has always had a special place in my heart and so many other band members over the years.

Thank you for all that you've done, Mr. McLure... and for all the memories!  Sure wish I could find one of my CSHS yearbooks to include the picture of you telling us all to "squeeze the marble"!
The 1981-82 Cedar Shoals Marching Band
(I'm on the very back row as a Band-Aide!)
You're the greatest band director ever!!!

  1. I love this card. Band was probably my favorite part of high school and I too was a flute player. Amazing card to honor your band teacher.
