Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - September 2018

Welcome to the September 2018 edition of the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop!  You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie from the USA.  The theme this month is FAVORITE TECHNIQUE!

On July 18th, I received some Happy Mail that I knew would one day be the inspiration of a card... guess what?!?  It sure did!!!  Take a look...

While viewing a sneak peek demo video showcasing the Frosted Floral Suite as a sneak peek for the 2018 Holiday Catalog, I knew that I was going to love it.  I loved it so much that I received the First Frost bundle it yesterday just in the knick of time to create this card!  Rather easy don't you think, since it is a CAS(e) (Copy and Selectively Edit) of the lovely postcard?  Not quite...

First Frost is a beautiful textured stamp set... I thought I was just going to stamp and go with it, but the creator in me could not do it.  It needed something more... yes, an Aqua Painter!  Watercoloring is my favorite technique if you haven't already guessed.  ;)

With the florals and the spray with leaves, the images were stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock and then the Aqua Painter was used to blend the stamped images for a watercolor look.  The tall slender leaves were stamped two ways... one just like the florals and two with watercoloring the stamp.  Watercolor washes were done in Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz on Shimmery White cardstock.

Playful Backgrounds was used for the stripes on Thick Whisper White cardstock.  Night of Navy ink was applied to the stamp with an Aqua Painter to provide a watercolor look.  When completely dried, the Petal Pink watercolor wash cardstock was trimmed into 1/2" strips to create the ribbon on a piece of Night of Navy cardstock which was adhered to the to stripes layer once it was completely dried.

The florals and leaves were diecut except for two leaf sprigs from Peaceful Noel which were fussy cut.  The diecuts were arranged, layered and adhered with liquid glue.  A few additional diecuts from the Stitched Seasons Framelits completed the floral arrangement.

The sentiment from the Darling Label Punch Box was stamped in Night of Navy onto Whisper White cardstock and punched with the coordinating punch.  A bordering bottom layer was created with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and punched in the corners with the same punch.  The sentiment was adhered to the floral arrangement with Stampin' Dimensionals after the arrangement was adhered to the ribbon cardstock.  The completed layer was then adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base.

If there wasn't so much detail in this card, I would be making 100 of them as my card swaps for Orlando!!!  I hope this watercolor card has inspired you to get creative with your watercoloring techniques.  You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie.  Now it's time to get more inspiration from the other stampers that are part of this Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop by clicking on the list below.  You sure don't want to miss any!
