Nature's INKspirations

Very Vintage for #NIC009

Fall has definitely been in the air here in NW Ohio over the past week...  lovely see-saw weather from hot to cold to warm to cool, etc.  And even the sun has been making it's peek-a-boo appearances.  The last photo challenge at Nature's INKspirations Challenges reminded me of one of these cooler, sunny weather days.

The photo was also full of dimension so I knew that I needed to use a stamp set that had a similar feeling... Very Vintage is what I chose!

I hope that you can see now why I chose this stamp set now that you've seen the photo inspiration!  The lace stamp was saying color me, color me!  And that is what I did with the Stampin' Write Markers.

The lace stamp was colored with Early Expresso (in the center) and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Markers using the Huff Technique to moisten the stamp before stamping it onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  This was repeated two more times before cleaning the center with my Simply Shammy and recoloring the entire stamp with the Crushed Curry Stampin' Marker.  Why do we "huff" (or breathe) on the stamp?  The ink from the marker dries as we color the rubber so the "huff" moistens the color for application.

The bee was stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink on Very Vanilla yardstick and fussy cut with paper snips.  The bee was adhered with a trimmed Stampin' Dimensional (mini dimensionals would work, too, but they weren't within my reach while creating this card).

The sentiment was colored with a Mossy Meadow Stamping' Write Marker, huffed and stamped in the center of the strip of Very Vanilla cardstock.  This layer was adhered with liquid glue to the  main stamped layer which was also adhered to the Crushed Curry cardstock layer with liquid glue.  The Crushed Curry layer was adhered to the Mossy Meadow card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.  A Fancy Linen Bow (aka a Billy Bow) is adhered with a Glue Dot.

For the inside, the lace stamp was colored again, huffed and stamped in the lower right corner.  The sentiment was colored with the Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write Marker, huffed and stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  This was layered onto Crushed Curry cardstock to compliment the front of the card.  And yes, the design was reversed minus a sentiment for the inside top layer to allow room for a personal note to the recipient.  Cards are not just for signing, right?!?!? RIGHT!  :)

Those of you who have received a card from me, know how I love to stamp the envelopes, too.  The envelope is a sneak peek of what's inside for the recipient!  I've always thought the envelope for a card is what a book cover/jacket is for a book.  It's decorated just enough to make the recipient excited to open it and read!

I hope that today's card has inspired you to not only create and share a card with someone today, but to also share a bit more of yourself when sending your cards... cards aren't just for signing, they're lines of communication that can be read any time after opening when someone wants to smile again.  Keep sharing the love!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Goodness that is an amazing design based on that picture. I popped over from SCS when I saw your upload. Using the lace as a flower is brilliant. Stunning inside and out.
