Ink and Inspiration Blog Hop - November 2019 - All About Bling

I hope you enjoy my project on this Thanksgiving day here in the USA as we share things that are All About Bling! 

This was a difficult challenge for me until I remembered a technique that I have been wanting to try -  The Letterpress Technique.  Jennifer McGuire has done several videos about it over the years so after watching her latest one from two years ago, I knew I was ready to give it go.

The smallest bough from the Beautiful Boughs Dies was die cut twice with Whisper White Thick Cardstock and once with Vellum cardstock.  The die cuts were adhered together with liquid glue with the vellum being the bottom layer.  Set aside to dry.  Dust with an embossing to remove any stickiness left behind from the adhesive.  A piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was cut in half (3-1/2" x 5") and ran through the embossing machine after the vellum was stamped in the Delicata inks.  (NOTE:  JM recommends die inks over pigment inks.  The Delicata inks are pigment inks so minimal touch ups were done with a detailing paint brush.)

The sandwich layer that I used with this technique is shown above.  I used a piece of Fun Foam as the bottom layer.  You can use an embossing mat, if you have one, or maybe even a silicone craft sheet.  The new 3D Embossing Folder Plate worked wonderfully instead of the retired cutting plates.

The vellum is very easy to wipe dry between color changes - be sure to use a soft cloth like a microfiber cloth.  And don't forget to wash your hands if needed!

The letterpress layers were trimmed down after my layer preference was determined.  Keeping with the feel of classic stationery, the layers were multiple, clean and simple.  Foil layers complimented the Delicata inks.  The Christmas Gleaming sentiment was chosen to compliment the technique.

The Copper ink features the Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper that has been a much loved paper these past few months.

This technique can be used with any dies that you may have.  Just have fun playing with it as the possibilities are endless.

But wait, let's not forget the inside!  This is just as important as the front (if not more so as far as I'm concerned)!  The sentiment from Merry Christmas to All was the perfect match for these classic cards.
