Hello and welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! We are glad you have joined us and look forward to spending time with you as we share inspiration with you to use your stash inspired by team member focus challenge. So sit back and enjoy your favorite cuppa as you enjoy your trip Around the World on Wednesday!
Today's Project
This month we are being inspired by our team member from across the pond (the United Kingdom), Kim Fee. Kim is a friend with a heart of gold who is enjoying her third assignment to the Artisan Design Team (2022, 2024 and 2026). I have had to the pleasure of having many a long chat and giggle with her across the pond. One of these days I will get to hug her to pieces at OnStage or better yet, on a personal trip to the UK! You can read about this amazingly strong lady here.
Being inspired by Kim to use my stash was an easy thing to do. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard her say that her favorite orange is Mango Melody and that it needs to come back.
I was going to use her favorite orange until I decided to use a favorite orange of mine that is returning as a 2026-2028 In Color! Kim will get to play with this returning color herself while she's at OnStage this week!
You can learn some amazing tips from Kim for coloring with watercolor pencils here. Her oh, so elegant piece of art inspired me to faux watercolor this...
Project Details
The Distinktive details of the Fragrant Layers Stamp Set along with the coordinating dies made this a quick coloring card.
Inspired by the patterned paper in Kim's inspiration, I knew I could create something similar with the Nature's Symphony Stamp Set.
The large Nature's Symphony image was repeatedly stamped with Old Olive ink on a piece of Mixed Up Patterns 12" x 12" Mix-in Designer Series Paper.
The stamped DSP was adhered to a 3" x 4-1/4" layer of Basic White Cardstock.
Linen Thread was double wrapped along the edge of the DSP and tied off with a double bow. The center of the bow was secured with a Mini Glue Dot.
Two smaller Basic White layers were adhered to the back to create a solid, floating look for this focal layer.
The large Distinktive Fragrant Layers image was stamped with Crisp Cantaloupe ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock.
One of the two double leaf Distinktive Fragant Layers images was stamped and off-stamped with Old Olive ink twice. The three leaf image was stamped likewise.
After die-cutting the stamped images with their coordinating dies, a Blender Pen was used to smooth out the distinctive markings to create a faux watercolor look.
Next came the fun part of creating a flower arrangement by cutting and repositioning the florals and adding leaves here and there.
The sentiment was stamped with Old Olive ink onto a Basic White scrap and die-cut with the coordinating die.
Spatters of ink were added to the Basic White backdrop using the brush tip of my Light Old Olive and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.
Press'n Seal was used to keep the die-cuts where I wanted them without completely redoing the arrangement.
Stampin' Dimensionals were adhered to the back of the arrangement while Multipurpose Liquid Glue was used for the sections needing additional security.
Moody Palette Glossy Accents were added as a finishing touch.
The assembled focal layer was adhered to Basic White cardstock layer and cardbase.
The inside of the card was stamped and layered to compliment the card front leaving plenty of room to correspond to the recipient. The Basic White Medium Envelope flap was decorated with stamped DSP identical to the card front to complete the card ensemble.
