Layers of Beauty for the Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop - June 2026 | Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Hello and happy June!  I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day!  Today I am hopping with some of my talented stamping friends from around the world who love creating with Stampin' Up!® products as much as I do!  We love hopping on the second weekends of the month - Saturday or Sunday depending on where you are in the world - and love sharing lots of inspiration with you.  There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and relax with your favorite cuppa as you peruse the hop.  

This month we are sharing projects based on our Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge!  I am sure that you will find lots of different interpretations and inspiration from this fun challenge.   

Today's Project

I saw a technique a few weeks ago that I have been wanting to try and this weekend's tic-tac-toe challenge gave me the chance to give it a go!

I was inspired with the bottom row (Flower | Wax | Red) and the second column (Blue | Glitter | Wax)!  And then I ended up including everything except the bike element.   

Project Details

Having been on a creative break, this project's main focus was a major inspiration.  Inspired by a YouTube video by Gina K Designs, I knew I had to give this fun Wax Paper Technique a try especially since I'm a baker and use wax paper all the time!  Recently, I've been enjoying wax paper with all the amazing intricate dies Stampin' Up! has been coming out with... so it was time to purchase a roll of wax paper just for my craft space.

For this technique, you will need an iron... and if you use your clothes iron instead of one dedicated to your crafts, you will want a regular piece of cardstock to protect the bottom of iron.

Cut a piece of Basic White to your standard card base size, cut it in half and place the two card fronts face to face... as in smooth side to smooth side.

Tear a piece of wax paper (only Cut-Rite Wax Paper for me) and cut it to the size of your Basic White (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") layers.  Wad it up into a ball until it's nice and crumpled.  Spread it out carefully and sandwich it between the Basic White cardstock layers.

Heat up your iron - I used the Linen setting.

Protect your surface, lay your "sandwich" down and cover it with a sheet of cardstock.

Apply heat and pressure until you have ironed your "sandwich".

Turn off the iron.

Now it's time to stencil!

Using the amazing Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks (currently low inventory on the Last Chance List!!!), I stenciled on both of the cooled, waxed Basic White cardstock layers.

I used Real Red (roses), Blueberry Bushel (small florals), Crushed Curry (small floral centers) and Shaded Spruce (greenery) inks with the Small Blending Brushes.  Smaller detailed blending brushes were used for the smaller details.  

This is such a FUN technique... and as you play and experiment you will find out that the amount of wax on your cardstock with vary as both sides of the wax paper are different due to the different coatings on each side. 

Needing to create some sympathy cards, I felt that the Layers of Beauty (retired) sentiment was perfect especially with its coordinating stitched die.  Linen Thread was used as finishing touch to the coordinating diecut (Layers of Beauty Dies are currently low inventory on the Last Chance List). 

A touch of Wink of Stella on the small floral centers added a  touch of glitter.

The Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder (retired) added a touch of distress.

The inside of the card was layered and embossed to compliment the card front leaving plenty of room for corresponding to the recipient.  The Basic White Medium Envelope flap was embossed to complete the card ensembles.
