Love What You Do for #NIC006

I had to submit a second entry to the fun challenge running over at Nature's INKspirations Challenges on Facebook since I had some time before Monday.

I pulled the inspiration for this card by zooming in on one of the objects in the challenge picture that intrigued me.  If you'd like to see the entire picture, we'd love to have you join us in the group!  :)

Isn't this flower center gorgeous?  It actually looks like a zillion little flowers itself!  Purple, green and light brown - translated to Gorgeous Grape, Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake in my mind.  And the little five petal "flowers" reminds me of the gorgeous Share What You Love SDSP that I see everyday as I work with my Big Plans Planner Kit that I discbound instead of using the binder!

Thanks to some inspiration from the lovely Emma Goddard, I knew that I had to create this gorgeous DSP in a different color!

I stamped the floral image in Staz-On Jet Black Ink onto Shimmery White cardstock using an acrylic block while stamping on top of a Stampin' Pierce Mat covered with Grid Paper.  Since the size of the cardstock of card front size, by the time I was done randomly stamping, I only waited a few minutes, before I started the watercoloring.  I created a watercolor wash around the petals using my Aqua Painter and the ink from the lid of my Gorgeous Grape ink pad after giving it a firm press between my palms.  Since I was in cardmaking mode at the time, I was able to work on some other projects while this dried.  If you're in a hurry, you can always grab the Heat Tool to dry it quicker.  Next I added a tad of Mint Macaron to the petals using the same method as before.

When I originally was working with this card, I kept wanting to pull the yellow from the photo inspiration as the cardbase, but I was not happy with it.  Especially after I had already cutup the watercolor piece into several pieces and layered them with Mint Macaron and Gorgeous Grape cardstock.  My eyes kept telling me to use Crumb Cake and I was like there's no brown in the flower!  So I looked again at the zoomed in area and was relieved when I saw the specks of light brown!  My eyes clearly saw the color long before I was able to register it through my creative process.  ;)

The Mint Macaron cardstock was ran through the Big Shot with the Subtle DTIEF placed on the Crumb Cake card base.  I did several different arrangements with my cut-up pieces and finally decided that one of them was all I needed - so now I can make several other cards like it!

The vellum banner was decided on after I created the vellum embellishment from the Stitched Seasons framelits (available during August only!!) which were remains from another project.  You know I love my Linen Thread so I wrapped some around the bottom sprigs and tied it off with a small bow.  This was applied with a Glue Dot.  The sentiment was stamped in Gorgeous Grape onto Vellum cardstock and attached to the back of the Mint Macaron cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  The Mint Macaron layer was adhered to the cardbase with Liquid Glue.  The watercolor layer was adhered with Liquid Glue before the end of banner sentiment was cut with Paper Snips to create the tail.

The inside of the card was finished off with another vellum embellishment and a thin strip of Mint Macaron ran through the Big Shot with the Subtle DTIEF.

This sentiment sums up how I feel about watercoloring and making cards.  Is there anything you do that can be expressed in a similar way?  If so, I would love to hear about it!

I hope you have been inspired by today's card to try something different with your crafty creations as you look around with an eye for detail!

Have a blessed day!
